The Periodical Launches

It's been a busy autumn and winter period at Aquagait Equine Centre. We our excited to launch The Periodical, a bi-monthly communication which aims to keep our friends and clients informed. We expect it to evolve and we will be focussed on providing relevant and informative content. We welcome your feedback and thanks for reading. In March we commissioned our high speed incline treadmill from which we have seen a sharp rise in pre-training numbers. Combining exercise on both our water walker and treadmill provides us with terrific options in varying intensity for pre-training and injury rehab. On the race track it's been great to see so many 'Aquagait Alumni', as we like to refer to them, enjoying success. There has been too many to list them all, however a few special mentions go to;

  • A terrific training performance by Clarry Conners to get Bolero King to win first up after a long lay off. Bolero King spent a few weeks pre-training at Aquagait prior to this preparation.

  • Well done to Bryce Heys and connections of Boston Light who recently broke his maiden status after 10 days on the water walker.

  • We were delighted to see the John Steinmetz trained Hilary Step produce back to back wins after a couple of freshen ups on the Water Walker.

We have also seen an increase in injury rehab patients which are always great challenges for us to take on and very rewarding experiences.

  • Thanks to Jason Attard for giving us the opportunity to care for Sons of John as he recovers from a leg injury.

  • Trainers Barb Joseph & Paul Jones sent us Bank On Henry who really flourished at Aquagait and is now back in training with the leading Canberra duo.

  • We also made our own purchase of the former Bjorn Baker trained stayer Zatopaz who suffered a serious tendon injury. After 4 months rehab solely in the water walker we are delighted with his progress. He has now begun walking with incline on the treadmill as we start to gradually increase the intensity of his rehab.

We continue to do a lot of work with standardbred and event horses. It's great to see many of our clients in both these disciplines having continued success with their horses! Special mention to one of our own team members Brooke Wilkins. Brooke works part time with us and also trains her own small team of 6 pacers. At just 20 years of age, this week Brooke trained her first winner with Allover Hanover saluting at Menangle Park. Brooke then followed this up with a training double in the very next race when Future Stride got the chocolates. Well done Brooke, we are very proud of you! More news and stories can be found on our website Spring is nearly here and we are really excited for the great racing ahead, culminating with the

inaugural running of The Everest in October. We wish all of our clients the very best as we approach this exciting time of year. Good racing to all!
